Taxaw is inspired by the earthquake of the African Heritage Restitution report, a historical scientific work by Felwine Sarr and Bénédicte Savoy. As a fashion brand and through our art collective, we began to imagine the future encounters with thousands of artifacts, books, rituals, textiles, and their irrevocable impact on our vision of the world and the vision of ourselves. A vast field of investigation and creation deepens for young Africans, and it is that of the reconstruction of African imaginaries.
In this space of infinite freedom, lies a radical reappropriation of the continent's words and possibilities. This radicality finds its most elevated expressions through arts, design and culture. Taxaw is a celebration, an ode to transcultural relationships based on mutuality, dignity and “elevation in humanity”.
